    DevOps Consultancy & Support

One standard across the whole DevOps loop

    What you get

    Plan

Work intake, branching and environment strategy, definition of done, and a baseline measurement of where you actually are.

    Code

Version control standards, branching model, code review that catches real defects, coding conventions and secrets hygiene.

    Build

Reproducible automated builds on every commit, dependency management, artifact registry and versioning.

    Test

A test pyramid that runs in the pipeline — unit, integration and end-to-end — with quality gates, coverage targets and managed test data.

    Release

Semantic versioning, artifact promotion across environments, approvals and changelogs — so a release is a decision, not an event.

    Deploy

Automated deployment with environment parity, blue-green and canary strategies, health checks and tested rollback.

    Operate

Runbooks, on-call rotation, incident response, backup and disaster recovery, capacity planning and cost control.

    Monitor

Logs, metrics, traces, SLIs and SLOs, and alerts that mean something — feeding real signal back into planning.

    Security throughout

Dependency, container and static analysis in the pipeline, secrets management, least-privilege access and audit trails.

    Infrastructure as Code

Environments defined in code and reproducible on demand — no snowflake servers, no undocumented manual steps.

    Measured with DORA

Deployment frequency, lead time for change, change failure rate and time to restore — measured before and after, so progress is provable.

    Enablement & support

Documentation, training and handover so your team owns it — with ongoing support available once it is running.

    Why this exists

Most teams do not lack DevOps tools. They lack a standard — an agreed way of doing each stage that everyone follows. One service deploys from a laptop, another has a pipeline nobody trusts. Tests are skipped when a release is urgent. Nobody is sure which server runs what, and the person who set it up has left.

The result is familiar: releases become risky events that get postponed, small changes take weeks, and the same incident happens twice because nothing was written down.

We define and implement one comprehensive standard across the entire DevOps loop, then support it. Not a tool purchase — a way of working that survives people leaving.

    The loop, stage by stage

Plan. How work enters the system and what "done" means. Branching and environment strategy agreed up front. We baseline your current delivery performance so improvement is measurable rather than felt.

Code. A single branching model everyone uses. Code review focused on defects and design rather than formatting. Conventions enforced automatically, and no secrets in the repository — ever.

Build. Every commit builds, automatically and reproducibly. Pinned dependencies, versioned artifacts in a registry, and a build that behaves identically on a laptop and on the server.

Test. Fast unit tests, meaningful integration tests against real dependencies, and a thin end-to-end layer. Quality gates block what should be blocked — and are trusted enough that nobody asks to bypass them.

Release. Semantic versioning, one artifact promoted through environments rather than rebuilt per stage, clear approvals and automatic changelogs. Releasing becomes a decision, not an all-night event.

Deploy. Automated, repeatable deployment to environments that match production. Blue-green or canary where it earns its complexity, health checks that actually gate traffic, and a rollback path that has been tested rather than assumed.

Operate. Runbooks for the things that go wrong, a humane on-call rotation, a real incident process with blameless review, tested backups and disaster recovery, plus capacity and cost visibility before the invoice surprises you.

Monitor. Logs, metrics and traces in one place. SLIs and SLOs defined for what users care about. Alerts tuned so a page means action — because an ignored alert is worse than none. What you learn here feeds straight back into Plan, and the loop closes.

Foundations that run through every stage

    • Security (DevSecOps). Dependency scanning, container image scanning and static analysis inside the pipeline; centralised secrets management; least-privilege access; and audit trails you can hand to an auditor.
    • Infrastructure as Code. Every environment defined in code and reproducible from scratch. No server whose configuration exists only in one person's memory.
    • Observability. Treated as a first-class requirement of shipping, not something added after an outage.
    • Cost. Visibility per environment and service, so scaling decisions are made with numbers.
    • Documentation. Architecture, runbooks and decisions written down and kept current — the difference between a team and a dependency on one person.

    How we engage

    1. Assess — we map how code actually reaches production today, stage by stage, and baseline your DORA metrics. You get an honest picture, including what is already fine.
    2. Standardise — we agree the target standard for each stage of the loop, written down, sized to your team rather than copied from a company a hundred times your size.
    3. Prioritise — we sequence the work by effort against payoff. Most teams gain most from build and deploy automation first; we start where your friction actually is.
    4. Implement — we build the pipelines, infrastructure and guardrails alongside your engineers, not in isolation from them.
    5. Enable — documentation, runbooks and training, so your team can run and extend it without us.
    6. Support — ongoing help once it is live: pipeline and infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, incident support and periodic review as you grow.

    Engagement & support options

Assessment — a short, fixed-scope review of your delivery pipeline with a prioritised roadmap. A small first step if you want evidence before committing.

Implementation — a defined project to build the standard out across the loop, sized from the assessment.

Ongoing support — a monthly retainer covering pipeline and infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, incident support and regular review. Most teams want this after go-live, because a delivery platform is not a build-once artifact.

We favour lean, boring, well-understood tooling over whatever is fashionable, and we deliberately avoid lock-in — you should be able to maintain all of this without us. Message us on WhatsApp and we will scope it honestly.

    Common questions

Do we have to move to Kubernetes? No. Kubernetes solves specific problems and adds real operating cost. If a simpler deployment target fits your scale, we will say so.

Which cloud do you work with? The major providers and self-hosted infrastructure. The standard is deliberately portable rather than tied to one vendor.

We are a small team. Is this overkill? The standard is sized to the team. A four-person team needs automated builds, tested rollback and backups — not an approval board. Small teams often gain the most, because there is nobody spare to absorb manual work.

Will this disrupt delivery while you work? We work incrementally alongside your team, starting with the highest-friction stage. Feature work continues.

How do we know it worked? The DORA baseline from the assessment is measured again afterwards. Deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate and restore time either improved or they did not.
